Roles, Goals, Relationship Alignment
SUMMARY
Roles/Goals and Relationship Alignment involves a series of process for creating alignment of thinking and action. Specifically, the processes enable business leaders and members of their organizations to use the business’s strategy and goals as a starting point for clarifying roles/responsibilities, establishing action plans, setting expectations on how people will work together to successfully execute, evaluate and achieve those plans.
The process typically involves the following steps:
- Identifying the work cycle in terms of “stages” or “phases” and the key activities within each phase/stage.
- Key stakeholder analysis of levels of responsibility for each activity.
- Pre-session interviews.
- Holding the session.
- Post session follow-up interviews.
A Roles/Goals and Relationships Alignment Session usually takes between one to one and a half days depending upon the number of people involved and the amount of work to be done. Each is tailored to meet the needs of a particular company and built around the client’s response to three basic questions:
- What are the specific outcomes of the session?
The answer to this question is the responsibility of the session’s senior sponsors. They may decide to involve input from a representative group of those who will be in attendance.
- What experiences, activities, tasks, etc. are needed during the session in order to achieve those outcomes?
Typically a small design team comprised of a member of the senior leadership team and representatives from the pool of attendees work with Results Oriented Consulting
to help gather information identify key issues and opportunities needed to create the session agenda and pre-work.
- What preparation is needed (i.e. communication from the session sponsors, interviews, participant pre-work, etc.) so that people come to the session ready to take advantage of the experiences needed to achieve the session outcomes?
